Texting
Driving down
the road you hear,
Your cell
phone buzzing in your ear.
You’ve done
it before so you can do it again,
But every
action you make could cause someone pain.
You pick it
up and you read the text,
You don’t
realize what will happen next.
A little girl
was crossing the street,
Yet instead
of her mom your car she would meet.
You had
always thought it couldn’t happen to you,
but you made the mistake and there
was no one you could turn to.
The guilt of
what happened tore you up inside,
Every day
you wished that you had been the one who died.
The day
would come that the guilt would overwhelm,
Your head
would spin into a whole new realm.
You took
things slowly day by day and never again let texting get in the way.
This describes a nightmare that many of us probably risk coming close to at one time or another. No message is worth the guilt and the destruction of lives.
