The Past

The Past

Looking back upon the past, makes the memories

come so fast.

Whether good or whether bad, sometimes the past

can look so sad.

You've fallen down and got back up, then fell again

like a newborn pup.

Taking time to understand, why you didn't make one

last stand.

Every day your spirit broke, but to her it was always

one big joke.

She didn't know what she wanted when she adopted

a daughter, yet every day she was colder than ice

water.

You did everything she asked you to, but every day

she hated you.

No matter the day or the time, the balance of the

future dangled like a broken wind chime.

The day would come when the future looked brighter,

you in the end would be the ultimate fighter.

The struggle would be over and you would be free,

somebody would find the missing key.

The memories could haunt you day and night, while

you tried to get rid of them with all your might.

In the end after your story is told, you got a peek at

what the future would hold.

  1. Digging into the past can be painful but also remind you of how far you've come. And what a rich place to dig up writing material--in the stories that have made a person who she is.
